Known by all as “Rev. Bob,” Robert B. Calkins began his journey to joining the ministerial profession in 1991 as the result of what he describes as “a vision that made it clear where I should go.”
Having practiced daily meditation for since 1986, Rev. Bob started with the Huntington Beach (CA) Church of Religious Science in 1991—now the Center for Spiritual Living Huntington Beach. This former aerospace engineer, who is committed to the evolution of consciousness, is a living example of the power of meditation, study, and commitment to community.
By late 1993, Rev. Bob began “going where he should go,” becoming a Prayer Practitioner that year, followed by a move to Issaquah, Washington four years later. As a result of his move to Western Washington, Bob transferred to the Seattle CSL, becoming a member in early 1998. By 2006, after retiring from a job in aerospace, he started studying at the Holmes Institute. In 2009, Bob graduated with a ministerial credential in hand—and a new identity as Rev. Bob. He currently serves CSL in a part-time ministerial role—but with a full-time commitment to the CSL community.
Rev. Bob holds BS degree in aeronautical engineering, along with a BA degree in applied mathematics, a MS degree in computer science, and a MA degree in consciousness studies.
