Title: Music Director
Department: Ministry Services Non-exempt, Part-time, $25-30 per hr., 15-20 hrs. per week
Sundays, holidays, and some evenings required Reports to: Spiritual Director/Associate Minister

Job Summary: Responsible for successful operation of music for all worship services in alignment with Science of Mind principles and the vision of the Spiritual Director. This includes but is not limited to Sunday services, holiday services, special services, musical concerts, and special events. Clearly and consistently communicate and champion the CSL Seattle Vision and Mission throughout all levels of the organization and programming.
Responsibilities, duties, and hours may change as the Center develops.
Key Position Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Work in partnership with the Spiritual Director and /or Associate Minister to create dynamic worship experiences
- Management of music worship services including music selection, music direction, and guest musicians; willingness to utilize and incorporate a variety of musical styles
- Schedule and manage musician staffing via Planning Center On-Line
- Creation and organization of band charts
- Responsible for coordinating and directing music rehearsals and run-throughs; act as band leader
- Coordination with sound technician, facilities manager, and administrative staff
- Manage and prepare annual music budget
- Oversee the maintenance of the Center’s musical instruments and audio equipment
- Responsible for ensuring that all administration aspects of the position are performed in a timely and professional manner (scheduling, lyrics, musical guest contracts, check requests, payroll etc.)
- Attend staff, team leadership, and ministry teams meetings as assigned
- Responsible for the creation, management, and production of overall music program for the Center’s annual Seabeck All Community Camp including the hiring of guest musicians, Seabeck choir and talent show
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent understanding, depth, and breadth of New Thought worship music
- Strong leadership, well-organized, and able to work in a collaborative setting; must be attentive to detail with good verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient knowledge of needed software and web-based applications including Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), musical notation software, Planning Center, Drop Box, and familiarity with database programs; willing and able to learn new programs and applications as needed
- Proficient in at least one performance area, such as keyboard, guitar, drums, or voice
- Producing and directing special events, concerts, etc.
- Working knowledge of sound systems, microphones, and live streaming/projection systems
- Excellent coordination and project management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to ensure highest priority work is completed on time and on budget
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to develop and nurture relationships with the ministry team, staff, and congregants
- Ability to interact with a wide variety of people with patience and compassion
- Dependable, responsible, self-motivated, creative, and accountable
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent work experience required
- Three to five years working in a music management capacity preferred
- Previous church music management experience is helpful
