Who is teaching our children?

INSPIRE – “Individuals Now Supporting Playful, Inspiring and Relevant Education”

The IGNITE Youth & Family Ministries support team of over 40 volunteer congregants is called INSPIRE. This dedicated team of Teachers, Advisors, Assistants, Class Helpers and Licensed Practitioners have made a pledge to be proactively involved in the Spiritual Education of children by first and foremost spiritually feeding themselves. Staff and Volunteers receive training in child safety, curriculum, and the procedures and policies of IGNITE Youth & Family Ministries at the Center for Spiritual Living, Seattle. They receive ongoing training in classroom management, communication and various teaching skills, as well as receiving practitioner prayer support and weekly contemplations to help them prepare for the lessons. Members of INSPIRE seek to ignite the Light of Inner Greatness within themselves and our youth in playful and meaningful ways. They are truly an inspiration!

Note: Every staff member and volunteer working with children must attend “Steps to Service”, submit an application with references, have a personal interview with the IGNITE Manager and pass a complete background check to assure the safety of our youth.  In addition there are both required and recommended trainings for various levels of service. Most of our teachers also complete a Teacher Certification Program within our community over a 1-2 year period of service.

Parent Involvement

Because parents and guardians are the most important teachers in their children’s spiritual journey,we have designed our program to include parents. Parents are expected to volunteer in the classroom or on the Welcome Team at least 6 times a year (about once every couple of months). They receive a free CD of the day’s service when volunteering.

Staff

During all IGNITE Youth & Family programs, at least one staff person is present. Staff are trained in youth development and are CPR & First Aid Certified. Many of our volunteers are also CPR and First Aid certified.

We can no more do without spirituality than we can do without food, shelter, or clothing.
