I was born the 12th child of 13 into a musicially gifted family. Most of my brothers and sisters were musicians and they taught me to sing at a very young age...around 3 years old. I learned to play the guitar at 9 years old. My Mother took us to the local Pentacostal church where they would often have me lead the children's song service starting about age 6. I sang in many contests starting in grade school and won first place in the vocalist division of the Bobby Bland contest for 3 years in a row. I received a scholarship to attend a music college when I was in jr. high school. I am from Patsy Cline's hometown of Winchester, Virginia and we all knew most of Patsy's songs and I loved her singing style. Her music was a big influence for me. Influences were also Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Carole King, Bonnie Raitt, Joan Armatrading. I am fond of all types of music, especially spiritual and motown.
I traveled across the U.S. when I was 19 years old and have performed in almost every state. When I moved to Seattle in the mid 1980’s I became street musician and also sang in a couple of bands in the Pioneer Square District. I have also performed at Benaroya Hall and McCall Hall in Seattle. My 1st cd, Pattern of Love, is a dedication to my Mother who had 13 of us children so I wrote 13 songs for it. I completed a single about 9-11 called, Heartbeat, and now I have just released my 2nd cd, Rising In Love which is available by contacting me and through DigStation and CDBaby. I am currently writing songs for my next cd and am now touring through California and the Pacific N.W.
