There is a Buddhist saying that goes like this: "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water."
That's sort of how I feel about working at a church. We have all the day-to-day routines to do, and then, a big event. But after the big event (like our 90-year anniversary celebration), it's back to the day-to-day activities that don't seem to pause just because I'd like them to. Sigh!
