2018 Spring Into Service Projects

  • In Honor of Earth Day – Sunday, April 22
    • Blood Drive
      Help save the lives of your neighbors by donating blood though Bloodworks Northwest and learn your blood type when donating. Sign up in advance at the CBW table. Hosted by Sherry Bay Santiago.
    • Electronics and Styrofoam Recycle
      Help save the planet by recycling your old electronics and Styrofoam. Collect and bring items to CSL on April 22 for pick-up. Hosted bye Sherry Bay Santiago.
  • 22nd Annual Rebuilding Together – Saturday, April 28 (Prep Day April 21)
    • Please join our CSL team for two days of service doing home repairs, maintenance, painting, and yard work to help a low-income senior and her family stay safely in their South Seattle home. All sills are welcome, but no experience necessary; minimum age 16 or 14 if accompanied by an adult. Help is needed to feed our volunteers, too.   • Pet & Rescued Animal Food and Supply Drive – Sunday, May 6, 13 & 20
    • Donation of needed items benefitting PAWS and Missy’s Rescue in Lake City. Hosted by CSL Animal Ministry
    • Wish List for Missy’s Pet Rescue: Nutro cat food, Nutro dog food (especially lamb & rice), Bleach, Kirkland Signature paper towels (less hardy ones just fall apart), Kirkland Signature 33-gallon black drawstring bags (this brand is very hardy), Used bath and hand towels — thick, good quality, Used dog and cat crates, Washable, durable cat and dog toys, and Volunteers!

  • Team Trip to Eastern Washington to Help Residents Rebuild from Fires – June 10-17 (full or part-week)
    • Join our team of 20 going to Okanogan County to help families rebuild and recover from the dame gone by the Carlton Complex and other fires. Come for the whole week or 2-3 days. No experience necessary; minimum age 18 or 16 if accompanied by an adult. Space is limited. Sign up or contact Tim Brincefield with questions and interest.
  • Tiny House Building – Ongoing

We effectively guide, support and create opportunities for people to build community and make a difference in the lives of others. We are a channel of God’s Love, Grace and Power as we help transform ideas into reality through mindful service.


We have served a multitude of projects such as St Francis House, our local Food Banks, Rebuilding Together, Habitat for Humanity, etc. Scroll down to see what we’ve been up to!


If you have a passion and commitment to making a difference in the world, affinity for volunteer service then we have the perfect projects for you. Work with volunteers and project management skills/experience helpful, but not required.

  • Each year our Create a Better World team manages a variety of service projects to share the spirit of generosity and Love during the holiday season. This year was no different, with SEVEN active service projects. All in all, we served OVER A THOUSAND grateful recipients of meals, blessing bags, scarves, gifts, coats, blankets, or stuffed animals. YOU gave over 465 donations, and 60+ joyful volunteers put it all together!
    • Holiday Dinner at Solid Ground: 90 people served by 15 volunteers
    • Treehouse: 13 volunteers completed all the planned tasks, and then some, to help foster children in our area.
    • Giving Tree: 210 gifts provided by YOU!!!
    • Blessing Bags: 135 bags assembled by 20 volunteers
    • Teddy Bear Drive: Over 120 stuffed animals donated by YOU! Distributed to Giving Tree families, Seattle Police, North Shore Fire, and Forgotten Children’s Fund.
    • Scarf Making: 680 scarves made by 14 volunteers distributed through St. Francis House, Jubilee, Women’s Center, Mary’s Place Family Center, Union Gospel Mission and Roots Young Adult Shelter.
    • A bundle of Blankets and Coats were donated by YOU to St. Francis House, coordinated by the Teen Group!
