The Happy Hum Remains

On Sunday we had our 2nd Annual Pet Blessing, in which we invited all well behaved, well trained animals to attend service (they could also bring their humans). We had mostly dogs, but a few courageous cats showed up, one bird, one rabbit and rumor has it, even a snake was in the Celebration Hall.

I’m not sure about everyone else, but I’m still vibrating from the love and joy I experienced that day. The dogs taught me to look around for friends, say hello to others and bark approval when you hear things you like. The cats taught me about trust; they really trusted the people they were with and calmly sat on their shoulders or in their arms. The bird taught me to ask for what I want by bending its head to get petted when I came near. All God’s critters have a voice, a gift to give, and an example for us to follow if we just pay attention. On Sunday this was reinforced in my mind.

I loved Sunday, I love CSL, I love all God’s critters!

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
