Loving What Is

I used to hate the short, dark days of winter. I would sort of “hold my breath” until March. That was really kind of crazy, now that I think about it: living in resistance from November to March.

I recently found myself appreciating the fact that the sun goes down early and I can be cozy and creative in my home. Winter nights now remind me of cozy contentment, a time to curl up with a good book instead of thinking about all the chores I should be doing around the house.

What created this change of mind? Hmmm…My guess is that when I gave up hate of any kind, the hidden blessings of the thing I once renounced could become apparent.

I’m not really sure what helped me make this shift, but I’m enjoying it.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.
