Fire Drill

I appreciate the patience of last Sunday’s second service congregants during our fire alarm incident. Although we have had several alarm tests for the building for employees, this was the first for us as a community during service. We knew within moments that it was not an actual emergency, and felt the Celebration Hall was secure. I am so pleased that the emergency plan for our Youth and Family classrooms was so effective and smooth, resulting in all our children being evacuated from the building within two minutes. We are currently investigating a discrepancy between our security alarm company and the fire department’s alarm, which affected our direct response for the congregation.

These are the kinds of opportunities we have to further refine our policies and planning. Thank you for your wonderful demonstration of flexibility, cooperation and calm.
